i have been to wellington a heap of times. you should definitely go to island bay and red rocks - its beautiful! and if you have time go for a drive to masterton or some where.. and check out karen walker, zambesi, kate sylvester etc. in the city

Welly-town is one of the best cities in NZ, apart from Auckland (thats where I'm from)
Its the windy city, so make sure you take alot of warm clothes! The shopping there is pretty rad, Cuba St is the place to go for all things different and boutiquey. From the point of the view of a tourist, I don't really know much, but I do know that you should go to Te Papa (its the best museum), the art there is amazing, AND there is this really big squid. Its dead, but its still pretty cool!
The high-fashion shopping is pretty good too, you won't find too much Gucci and Chanel, but you will find awesome NZ labels like Zambesi, Lonley Hearts Club, Stolen Girlfriends Club etc.
